Greenbriar, October 2012

Three days of rain in the Greenbrier section of the Smokies, the kind of weather that empties the trails and saturates every color. Fourteen frames in shooting order: wet stone, moving water, and leaves exactly where they fell.

A rain-soaked maple leaf on a wet boulder, the creek blurred behind
The creek cascading through mossy boulders and rhododendron
Yellow leaves scattered across wet river stones
A curled autumn leaf resting on lichen-spotted rock
The creek rushing beneath a turning autumn canopy
Red maple leaves on a bed of green moss
A cascade pouring between mossy boulders
A wooden footbridge dusted with fallen leaves
The gravel road curving away into autumn woods
The road at first light, leaves down after a night of rain
Ramsey Cascades in fog, autumn leaves clinging to the wet rock
Twin cascades threading mossy boulders under a yellow autumn canopy
The river running full beneath fall color
A single red leaf on a wet boulder midstream
